The commissioner ended up going with a different lettering style, but personally I liked the look of the vertical letters.

The Serpent Body of Santo Niño
A Personal illustration, in brush pen and ink on bristol. Using up my supply of square cut paper sheets. It’s been a while since I did some traditional art, so I was very glad to get around to doing some pieces before school starts. I want to do more pieces with the snake angels IContinue reading “The Serpent Body of Santo Niño”

“The primordial cow, the first man Manu and twin Yemo, who was male and female, out of whose sacrificed body and blood the earth was created and first humans came forth” Azulin and Gordi from the film Unicorn Wars (2022). Azulejo Angel illustration- Sphinx
Several months after drawing my first Azulejo inspired Angel, I decided I wanted to return to that theme and color scheme with another design, this time something a little more figurative! I’ve had this character design of a Sphinx or manticore-like creature in mind for a while, and wanted to do something similar. I keptContinue reading “Azulejo Angel illustration- Sphinx”
David: Singer of Psalms, Slayer of Giants
An illustration of King David I did, inspired by listening to the Yale Bible Study video series on the books of Samuel. A complex character who feels very much like one of those Prestige TV kind of men who cause a lot of chaos in their path (and especially disrupting the lives of women aroundContinue reading “David: Singer of Psalms, Slayer of Giants”

The Lion in Winter – Poetry and Power
No man who sees her and has faith In her sweet looks, her lovely eyes; Could ever believe, in any way Her heart is evil: her mind, it lies: But waters that slide calmly by Drown more than those that roar and sigh. They deceive who seem so fair, Oh, be wary of the debonair.Continue reading “The Lion in Winter – Poetry and Power”
Azulejo Tile-Inspired Angel
An illustration I made inspired by the azulejos I saw during my visit in Portugal last year! I was very impressed and amazed by the wide variety of patterns and tiles there were on so many buildings. I enjoyed the stylization as well as the blue color that was very common, and wanted to doContinue reading “Azulejo Tile-Inspired Angel”
The Angel Tizel – Original Character Illustration Commission
This was an incredible character design I was commissioned to draw by Jazzakid on twitter. The commissioner’s design was inspired by various catholic art and imagery, including reliquary items such as the skull of Mary Magdalene, as well as the very solid and maximalist designs such as the detail on some Warhammer 40k models. Thus,Continue reading “The Angel Tizel – Original Character Illustration Commission”
