An artwork I did for @sofialuajuk on twitter of her characters, a Cathar peasant and a disillusioned French knight and former crusader who find love in the midst of the Albigensian Crusade.
I was inspired by the verse John 14:30 (quoted in the title), since the somewhat antagonist of the story, King Philip II Augustus of France — known as “Rex Christianissimus” – “Most Christian King”— for his persecution of religious minorities (primarily Jewish people) was the reigning king at the time of this crusade against supposed heretics. I wanted the drawing to show resilience and love against persecution in this time.
